Closing a specific stretch of Queen Elizabeth Drive creates more problems than benefits

I've heard from many residents that they don't support closing Queen Elizabeth Drive south of Pretoria Bridge on weekdays and during major weekend events. Because of the geography of the Glebe, and the location of Lansdowne Park, when QED is closed it creates significant pressure on neighbourhood streets, creating problems for emergency vehicles and residents.
