We lost a local hero and veteran this past summer. The late Clarence "Gus" Este was a distinguished Korean War Veteran who selflessly served his country for 34 years and his community throughout his life. Gus Este passed away this summer at the age of 91, leaving behind a legacy as a leader and community builder with the Barrhaven Lions Club and the Barrhaven Legion.
In retirement, Gus Este was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations in #TeamOttawa. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to our city, he was awarded the Order of Ottawa in 2016. We are fortunate to be able to visit a park dedicated in his honor - Gus Este Park.
