Le Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans invited me to celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day at their traditional Apéro Franco and mark the 49th anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian flag.
I also stopped in at la Maison de la Francophonie. This space has become a hub for francophone programming and activities, servicing the rapidly growing francophone community in Ottawa's west end. It was great to speak with interns from College La Cite and learn how they are supporting programs.
At City Hall, we raised the flag to celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day. I'm grateful for the immense contribution of Ottawa's Franco-Ontarian community and proud of our city's commitment to bilingualism and the French language.
Next I attended the flag raising at Monfort Hospital, a francophone research powerhouse serving more than a million people in both official languages.
We ended the day in Vanier with Centre des services communautaires Vanier and the incredible Vanier community to raise our last Franco-Ontarion flag of this year's celebrations.
