Exciting Announcement for Team Homan

I’m here at the Ottawa Curling Club, which is most famous as the home of Team Homan, the World Champions!

Rachel Homan and Emma Miskew have curled together for more than 20 years. They each learned the game just around the corner from here at the Rideau Curling Club when they were 5 years old.

They won their first Ontario U21 Championship together representing the Ottawa Curling Club in 2009.

The following year, they won the Canadian Junior Championship.

Together, Rachel and Emma have been the heart of one of the most successful curling teams in Canadian curling history.

Team Homan has won four titles at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and two World Curling Championships, the most recent one with teammates Tracy Fleury and Sarah Wilkes.

They are 15-time Grand Slam champions, quatre fois médaillée mondiale, and they represented Canada at the 2018 Olympic Games after their triumphant win at the 2017 Roar of the Rings right here in Ottawa.

This is why I am extremely proud to make a big announcement today. On June 21st, Team Homan will be receiving one of our city's highest honours, the Key to the City.

Congratulations Team Homan. I can’t wait to present you with this well-deserved honour on behalf of all of your fans and supporters here in Ottawa.
