The Canadian Tulip Festival is officially opened. I had the honour of attending the opening ceremonies of the Canadian Tulip Festival. For 80 years, the tulip has stood as a symbol of heroism, of spring, of deep and lasting friendship between Canada and the Netherlands. Walking among the thousands of blooms and hundreds of people in Commissioners Park, you can feel it: the gratitude, the pride, the memory of those who served, and the enduring bond between our countries. I was especially moved by the presence of so many in attendance for HLGen Richard Rohmer and Retired Private John Preece. It was a pleasure to be there with Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Edith Dumont, MP Yasir Naqvi, MP Mona Fortier, MP Marie-France Lalonde, Toby Nussbaum and Margeriet Vonno.
