Unveiling the Bytown Famine Monument

We unveiled the Bytown Famine Monument—bronze shoes that tell the story of Irish families who arrived in Bytown with little, but helped build the city we know today. Their legacy lives on in landmarks like the Rideau Canal and in the strength of our community.
