Ottawa Hosts its first ever IRONMAN Canada

On August 3, Ottawa welcomed the first-ever IRONMAN Canada race to our city – and what an unforgettable day it was. Over 2,500 athletes from across Canada and beyond competed in one of the world’s most grueling endurance events, cheered on by thousands of fans lining the course with incredible signs, energy, and enthusiasm. It was a celebration of determination, strength, and community spirit.

I was so proud to meet some of the local athletes before the race, and even prouder to cheer them on during the event. One of my City Council colleagues, Councillor Theresa Kavanagh, completed the IRONMAN, as did many local athletes. It’s really an incredible accomplishment and they are an inspiration to us all. Congratulations to every single participant who crossed the finish line. You made history in our city.

Thank you to the volunteers, medics, and members of the Ottawa Police Service who helped make the day run smoothly. And thank you to everyone who came out to support – you helped create an atmosphere that made this event such a success. It was an amazing day for Ottawa, for our local economy, and for showcasing everything that makes our city a world-class host.
